Currently Planet provides access to its services to about 600 users.  Users are of the following categories :

• Higher Education Institutes
• Academic & Non-Academic Research Centers
• University faculty members
• College students
• School teachers

Universities are connected through VSAT links. VSAT link provides unlimited email service accounts and about 10 to 15 simultaneous Internet browsing accounts. Research Centers and other categories are connected through dial-up links.

University campuses that are within the  Jerusalem area are connected through leased lines. Now Planet offers leased lines connection through paltel between and within cities.

Universities and colleges in the West Bank and Gaza are connected through wireless communication links. 

Three of the campuses of Al-Quds University in Jerusalem are connected through leased lines.

Abu Deis campus and Medical Professions are connected through VST. Al-Najah University, Hebron Polytechnic, Islamic University in Gaza are connected through VSAT.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Alteri Women’s college (UNRWA) are connected through  microwave links. 

 Research centers like ARIJ, Arab Studies, Mass, Almultaqa, and others are connected through different communication means/links.

Planet is always trying to upgrade its equipments due to the large demand of service provider.

Urgent Needs

Subscription to Electronic Journals: what makes Planet unique in its services is that it always looks for fund to buy databases and electronic Journals to the academic community. Our most urgent project is to subscribe to electronic Journals like Current Content and install it on the server for fast and efficient  access for Palestinians. Fund is urgently needed since Palestinian universities are in very much need for such service as printed journals are not possible to get due to financial problems. Bibliographical data on books, journals, and research reports are always in big demand. 

We at PLANET are very much interested in opening a channel of communication for cooperation with academic, Research Centers, similar academics in world wide.
